Aside from the famous sightseeing tourist spots and attractions in Japan, travellers who come to visit the country would also want to know which areas provide the best and one of a kind gastronomic experience. A recent survey conducted by Diamond Online Polls revealed which prefectures have the most delicious food selection. This survey is participated in by more than thirty thousand respondents with ages ranging from early twenties to late seventies.

Based on the survey, Hokkaido, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nigata and Kyoto emerged as the top five food destinations. Hokkaido is considered as the best place for seafood dishes in Japan. It offers a wide variety of appetizing and flavorful seafoods such as crab, salmon, scallops and uni or sea urchins. Fukuoka, on the other hand, is widely known for its mouthwatering ramen.

If you are into Okonomiyaki, pancakes, omelets and a good mixture of meats and vegetables, Osaka is the perfect place to go. For rice eaters and buckwheat noodle lovers, the survey suggests Nigata as the best choice since it is home to the most delicious variety of rice in the country. Finally, Kyoto is considered as the best place to eat in if you are looking for delectable traditional Japanese cuisines.
