Tokyo Governor Undertakes to Strictly Implement Measures Against COVID-19 During Olympic Games

It’s been more than a year since the Japanese government had been anticipating and preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic games. Hundreds of thousands of Japanese and foreign sports fanatics are looking forward to witness the exciting games and various sports events of the Olympic Games.


Both local and Economic analysts said last year that the Olympics would surely bring about further improvement and boost the Japanese economy in terms of tourists and business investments. However, the Olympic hype which was previously felt in Japan among the energetic athletes, participants and spectators of the Olympic is now overshadowed by fear of the corona virus outbreak.


Less than six months before the intended date of commencement of the much anticipated 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic games a lot of rumors are spreading all over different countries worldwide with regard to the possibility of postponing the international sports event due to the continuous proliferation of the corona virus.


Recently, the highly contagious corona virus which originated in Wuhan, China has been declared by the World Health Organization as a global pandemic as it has already caused a serious impact on a lot of countries all over the world including Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Germany, among others.


In this regard, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike gave the public an assurance that the Japanese government will undertake all measures to ensure that there will be a safe and smooth flow of the Olympic events this year.


An Olympic torch relay is actually set to take place in Fukushima Prefecture by March 26, 2020. According to Governor Yuriko Koike “We’re taking thorough infection measures with regards to the Olympic Torch relay domestically.”


Despite the public fear in relation to the possible spread of the corona virus during the Olympics and the rumors regarding its postponement, the Japanese government is hopeful that the Olympic Games will push through as scheduled.
