Tokyo Couple arrested for killing daughter

Police arrested a couple in Tokyo on Wednesday suspected of neglecting their daughter resulting in her death. The mother, who left desperate messages in a notebook begging for them to stop abusing her on a daily basis, seemed indifferent.   According to the police report, Yudai Funato and his wife Yuri, had starved their daughter, Yua, of food and had been assaulted multiple times since late January. Their neglect resulted in her death from sepsis caused by pneumonia on March 2.   Yua weighed only 12 kilograms when she was found, compared with the average weight for her age of 20 kg.
