Three Major Tourist Destinations in Japan made it to the List of Largest Cities Worldwide

In recent years, there has been a great surge in the tourism industry in Japan. Hundreds of thousands of globetrotters and travel enthusiasts come to visit the country in order to explore its awe inspiring tourist destinations, try out their iconic cuisines, experience a one of a kind culture and to be in awe of its high end technological advancements, among others.


Numerous international travellers come to visit the Land of the Rising Sun year in and year out. Most of them prefer to go tour large cities such as but not limited to the country’s capital, Tokyo then Kyoto and Osaka. In fact, based on a report issued by Conde Nast Traveler, a travel and lifestyle magazine in the United States, the said cities are included in the top ten largest cities in the World.

Tokyo has been in the said list for the fourth time in a row. Meanwhile, Japan National Tourism Organization released a statement that it is the first time that the three Japanese major cities: Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka are listed in the top ten at the same time. Kyoto which is considered as the cultural capital of Japan landed at the second spot in the list. The city attracts numerous visitors every year as it displays a wide range of Japanese cultural heritage, to wit: Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palaces and gardens. Many of these destinations are declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.


On the other hand, Osaka which is one of the designated cities in the Kansai region known as the economic and financial hub of Japan, also made it to the list of top ten largest cities. Osaka ranked number five in the list. It is home to some of the most popular Japanese dishes and is definitely the perfect place for foodies and shopping enthusiasts.


Finally, the capital city of Japan, Tokyo has been on the list of largest cities for the four successive times as expected. Among the six hundred thousand subscribers of Conde Nast Traveller who participated in the survey, Tokyo has always been a favorite pick. Yuriko Koike the governor of Tokyo is very much delighted that the city is again selected as one of the biggest cities in the world.
