The Tourism Agency of Japan reported that the number of foreign visitors in Japan reached a record high of 31.19 million in the year 2018. Nevertheless, the government of Japan still seeks to bring in more foreign travellers with the goal of hitting 40 million foreign tourists by the year 2020.
