For a relaxing view of the city, a 5-minute ride, 630m journey, on this ropeway will surely take your breath away! Yokohama City already attracts a staggering 36.3 million annual visitors and with the addition of the first city cable car, the city will surely attract more visitors once it’s opened this April 2021. This was also set to help revitalize the waterfront in the city.
The Yokohama Air Cabin connects Sakuragicho Station with Shinko Pier. It is where the top attractions including the Red Brick Warehouse, amusement park Cosmoworld and popular shopping mall World Porters are situated.
The ropeway traverses across a canal above Kishamichi Promenade at a height of 40 meters. The 5-minute Gondola ride will let you see amazing views from above any time of the day. However, the view is more magnificent during nighttime when the Minatomirai area, with its colorful Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel and Landmark Tower, are all lit up. So, make sure you line up just by sunset.
The ropeway operates from 10am to 10pm daily starting April 22. One gondola can fit up to 8 people. It is fully airconditioned for a more comfortable ride. The one-way rate starts from ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for primary school students and children aged 3 and older.
The rate isn’t bad if you want to quickly enjoy a relaxing view of the city while leaving all your pandemic worries behind.
