High school students in Japan showing signs of pregnancy in school years 2015 and 2016 dropped out of school forcibly or voluntarily. The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology found that there were 2,098 pregnancies among high school students during the two-year period. Of the 2,098 cases discovered, 32 of the pregnant students quit on the recommendation of their schools. Dropping out of high school is widely regarded in Japan as leading to a cycle of poverty. The education ministrys Student Affairs Division takes the issue seriously and has issued notifications to prefectural boards of education across Japan telling them not to easily judge and not to urge pregnant pupils to quit school....
